In the heart of Entre-deux-Mers, the Château de Rauzan is a fine example of a medieval fortified castle. It was built in the XNUMXth century, when Aquitaine belonged to the crown of England, at the request of King-Duke Jean Sans Terre (son of Aliénor d'Aquitaine and brother of Richard Coeur-de-Lion).
Pass its stone bridge, once closed by a barbican, and enter this building, as often restored as it has been destroyed.
Admire the flamboyant Gothic doorway of the main tower and its precious palm vault, added in the 15th century, then begin the ascent of the 107 steps to the keep. From the keep's terrace, perched 31 meters above the moat, you'll discover a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside.
As a family, go in search of the treasure of the knights, hidden somewhere between the thick walls of the Château de Rauzan.
