GENSAC

Thanks to this hike starting from Gensac, an ancient bastion clinging to the natural fold formed by the rocky spur, overlook the valleys of the Durèze, Soulège and Dordogne.
1

Start date

Start the hike from the Town Hall Square. Opposite the town hall, take Rue Graulhet on the left. At the intersection, follow the street opposite, slightly to the left as it descends, and continue along the path through the woods. When you reach the limestone path, continue straight ahead to reach the small paved road.
2

Step 2

At the 90° bend, take the grassy path on the left and enter the woods. Follow this path until you reach the D16. Walk along the side of this road until you reach the village of Pessac-sur-Dordogne.
3

Step 3

At the Protestant church, turn left onto Rue du Port and then go down the quays. Follow the Dordogne River, heading northeast, under the bridge and then past the Château de Vidasse.
4

Step 4

Continue along this small road which leads to a white path, in front of the pumping station. Continue until you reach the D130.
5

Step 5

Turn right (be careful), go past the cemetery then, at the second intersection, turn left onto the small road towards the place called Guillemat.
6

Step 6

Then continue along the dirt road that crosses a stream. Follow the dirt road to the right and pass between the houses: Labarthe is mentioned on the IGN map, but the place name is also called Le Méjean. The path joins the place name Maupile. Continue straight until the road turns 90°.
7

Step 7

Turn left onto the vineyard path. At the paved road, turn right then left onto the path that climbs past the first plot of vines. Once on the plateau, take the path on your right, follow the vines and then the woods to reach a paved road.
8

Step 8

Take a direct left and go down to the intersection at Moustelat.
9

Step 9

Turn right and follow the road. At the stop sign, take the road on your left for a few dozen meters.
10

Step 10

Turn right onto the path and climb into the woods. Follow the embankment to the left to get back onto the road, where you turn left to the place called Claribès.
11

Step 11

Turn right and follow this small road straight ahead until you reach a crossroads after the Château de Carbonneau.
12

Step 12

Continue straight ahead, pass a cross and leave the hamlet of Jaure on your right. Continue to the next intersection with the Route du Vivey.
13

Step 13

Take the street on the right, cross the D18 carefully and go into the street opposite (Rue Neuve). Cross the Route de Pessac (D16) again carefully and continue along the street opposite, Cours des Fossés, until you reach the intersection with Rue de l'Église.
14

Step 14

Turn right onto this street and follow it. Keep right and pass the church. Then follow Rue du Château to reach Place de l'Hôtel de Ville.
