You are in Castillon-la-Bataille where the Hundred Years War between the French and the English ended in 1453.

The start

The departure is from Castillon la Bataille station. Turning your back to the station and go down Avenue Gambetta. Take the first street on the right and take the tunnel which passes under the railway track. At the exit of this tunnel, turn right and follow Rue Montesquieu which runs along the railway line. Arrived at the cemetery, continue on the road opposite.

Step 1

Take the second path on the left (after the cemetery) between the vines. At the top, enter the wood and take the path on the right. At the end, turn left then up, right. Then turn left to go up to the hamlet of Horable.

Step 2

Turn right onto the tarmac road and cross the hamlet. At the exit of the latter, you have a beautiful view of the Castle of Castagens. Follow the road.

Step 3

At the crossroads, turn left towards the place called "La Brande". At the following crossroads, continue straight. You pass in front of the entrance to the house of La Brande and you go straight up into the woods. At the end of this path, follow the path straight on until you reach the tarmac road which you follow as an extension.

Step 4

Just after the Stop sign, leave the road to turn left into the path to arrive at the village of Belvès-de-Castillon.

Step 5

In the village, turn left following the direction of Castillon-la-Bataille; then turn right between the church and the "Claud Bellevue" and follow the tarmac road. After about 300m take the path on the left.

Step 6

At the end of this path, turn left onto the tarmac road, then at the fork, turn right and follow the road to the hamlet "Lucas". At the fork, take the road on the left.

Step 7

In the bend, take the path to the right which runs alongside the houses then passes between the vines. At the tarmac road, turn right.

Step 8

Turn left on the path (bypass the barrier) which goes down towards Castillon-la-Bataille. Cross the road to Belvès (D119) and continue opposite on the grassy path between the houses to reach the station.

Step 9

Cross the tarmac road, turn right into the passage under the railway line and return to the station by turning left onto Avenue Gambetta.
