The town of Jugazan has one of the oldest historical monuments in the territory: the Curton dolmen (dated from 2600 to 2300 BC, i.e. the end of the Neolithic period).
This long Aquitaine alley-type dolmen served as a collective burial (remains of individuals were found on site). It is made up of asteria limestone, a type of rock very common in the Entre-deux-Mers, and whose particularity is to contain fossils (in particular those of starfish).
Another emblematic monument of Jugazan is its church, dedicated to Saint-Martin, which is of Romanesque foundation. It has a magnificent Romanesque portal on which you can see representations of human and divine characters or even animals, fish, and plants. The church was, until the middle of the XNUMXth century, a property of the abbey of La Sauve-Majeure.
The village of Jugazan is crossed by the Engranne stream (which is a tributary of the Dordogne). The Engranne hydrographic network is a Natura 2000 site recognized for the diversity of its fauna, flora and landscapes.
