Step 1

From the village, take the descent of the 3 routes, a few meters away you will see an old family vault on their land, probably originally a Protestant custom, there are many of them on the various large properties. Stop at TOURON and admire a very old private washhouse on your right. “Toron” meant in Occitan “source” or fountain”. Continue the shady road along the source of the Touron, where a tropical climate seems to reign.

Step 2

At the junction, continue to the left on the road, you pass in front of the beautiful old watermill of I'Escouach. After the mill leave the road on the right which goes up towards Vaure and continue on the small hill, in the forest.

Step 3

At the top, at the crossroads, take the road opposite to the corner of a house in ruins. Further to the left, leave the path to the noble house of Laurée that you cannot see and go up the small road. Halfway to the right, at the top of the embankment, before arriving at the house located at the top in Caillouade, you will see a mission cross.

Step 4

In the courtyard of the Caillouade house, a gavache well, stone well, high, covered and closed by a gate. These wells appeared in large numbers in the villages after 1453, during a difficult period when the region had become desert, the population having been decimated by the 100-year war. At that time, emigration from Saintonge and Poitou was encouraged. The Saintonge peasants who spoke in the language of oil brought new peasant traditions, in particular that of the closed and covered wells known as gavaches (gavacho: term designating the immigrant).

Step 5

Leave the house on the right and continue through the vines for a while. Arrived at the road passing next to a house on the left (RIEUX), we see a beautiful tomb with an epitaph: “Dear parents and friends who crown my tomb, I bid you farewell by abandoning this world”.

Step 6

Always straight along the vines, you arrive on a wood on the right, continue along the wood. The path turns at the top of the wood then descends towards the road. At the dead oak turn right. Continue on the road for a while then turn left into the vines at the yellow arrow. You pass next to a house and you arrive downhill on the hamlet of LANGRAGNAT with pretty houses. On the left towards the exit of the hamlet, an old blocked well.

Step 7

Leave the hamlet by the road. At the crossroads, arrow right to go up towards Doulezon, where you can see the church at the top right on the hill. Follow the road, on the heights you can see an old dovecote in Descot on the right.

Step 8

We cross the DESCOT stream and arrive at the LA CHOTELLE washhouse recently cleaned and fitted out by the municipality for rest or picnics. Pylons have been placed on the stream to allow it to be crossed. Head towards DESCOT on the right, a few pretty houses and you arrive behind the church of DOULEZON.
