The medieval village was first established around the parish church built in Romanesque times.
The castle built later, attracted a large population, which found refuge in houses concentrated around the farmyard, in order to take advantage of the protection of the castle. The latter, one of the most important fortresses of the Gironde was built from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth century. Against the dungeon is nestled the dwelling pierced with large XNUMXth century cross windows. The Saint-Pierre church, a beautiful church with a pointed barrel vault, surprises with its long western façade from the XNUMXth century, pierced by a large pointed arch door. The village has an XNUMXth century chapel, a few old houses, and near the castle, a curious house with a door decorated with sculptures symbolizing the vine and wine, one of the undisputed riches of the town, with the Célestine cave.
