In the Middle Ages (from the 1890th century), Branne already had a wooden bridge, used to cross the Dordogne. A paying right of way was then in force (abolished in 1911). A new metal bridge was built from 1944. The Germans blew it up in XNUMX. Following this episode, a restoration of the bridge was decided.
